If you are planning to set up a tropical fish tank and are reluctant to go with the ever so common neon tetras and guppies, why not try some cichlids? The cichlid family contains roughly 2,000 species and some of them are known to do fine even in aquariums handled by beginner aquarists. You can for instance try the charming and colourful Kribensis cichlid, Pelvicachromis pulcher. This is a fairly small cichlid that does not require a big aquarium, but unlike most of the dwarf cichlids it is not very sensitive to soluble waste. The male can grow up to 10 cm in length while the females stay a bit smaller. The native home for this sturdy little cichlid is the Niger River delta in West Africa. It is adapted to a life in shallow rivers with plenty of aquatic plants and will therefore appreciate a planted aquarium with lots of hiding spots. The Kribensis cichlid will claim a territory and defend it, especially during the breeding period, but the territory is typically very small and therefore not a problem in the aquarium. The other fish will soon learn to stay away. If you for give your Kribensis cichlids a small cave in the aquarium, they will most likely be satisfied with guarding only the cave and leave the rest of the aquarium alone during the breeding period.

There is no single opinion about dogs’ origin. Archeological finds have shown that dogs were on earth 25-30 million years ago. There was intermediate type of wolf that has become an ancestor of jackal, fox, coyote and all dogs’ family.

And then wolf tamed by human became a dog. Friendship of a human and a dog has become a long time ago. Always and everywhere – at the time of war and peace, in wealth and poverty, in art, hunting, sport, and scientific researches – the dog accompanies human. Not accidentally one English philosopher who wanted to give them his due for such constancy have called the dogs “honorary human creatures”.

I saw several posts about using Frontline and Advantage, but none discussing this. Every time I put Frontline on a cat (I trap, spay and neuter ferals, so we’re talking lots of cats, not just two or three), they start to salivate profusely about 10 minutes later. They get upset by it, and run
around for about five minutes, then they’re okay.

This can’t be good! I called the Frontline customer service number, as well as an emergency vet clinic. Frontline claimed they’d never heard of this. The vet clinic tech. said to just keep an eye on the cats, but that they think Frontline is safe.

Gee whiz, if I put some insect repellant on my kids, and saw them start foaming at the mouth 10 min. later, I wouldn’t be appeased by any of those such “reassurances”, even knowing that the symptoms will go away in five minutes.

Has no one else experienced this? I can’t believe that every cat I dose does this, but that it doesn’t happen to anyone else! They do seem to do it less after the first month of each flea season (I don’t put it on them year round), but that isn’t any consolation.

I just got back from dinner with a freind of mine and she had just came home with a sweet little boy. The Breeder she got him from recommended that she give him Frontline Plus For dogs 35-40 lbs, to get rid of the posibility for Worms. This doesn’t sond thike there should be a connection.
Please Let me know.

We were given a while ago a couple of packets for maybe three month’s dosage of the new Frontline Plus product, courtesy of my daughter working at a veterinary hospital and the salesman providing these to her for our dogs. I happened to go to a local feed store yesterday to get the special food for my elder cocker mix, who has epi, and noticed they sell the Frontline (not the Plus) product. When I asked the reliable representative about the product,
here in capsule is what he said: …while all the vets are offering Frontline Plus at more expensive cost, all else it does is sterilize the fleas. OK, if we’ve already killed all the fleas with this drug, why do we care about sterilizing them? In other words, Frontline (which one of our dogs needs for ticks on her jaunts away) is just as good as the Plus, without whatever the “Plus” represents, beyond sterilizing the fleas. Any comments? (I use Advantage on the elder pup, as he goes no where near tick places, and I don’t want to put any more chemicals in his body than he absolutely needs, due to the epilepsy problem.)
