Along with its expected effects, Clonidine may also cause some unwanted effects. Below you can see the list of possible side effects of Clonidine. Please keep in mind that these are possible side effects. Not all the people experience the listed side effects. Combinations of side effects can be very different. Most side effects usually disappear after a few weeks of taking the medication.
In case if you have any of these serious side effects you should stop using Clonidine and call your doctor immediately:
- • an allergic reaction (difficulty breathing; closing of your throat; swelling of your lips, tongue, or face; or hives);
• a very slow heart rate (fewer than 60 beats per minute); or
• unusually high or low blood pressure (severe headache, redness of the face, neck, and chest, dizziness, and fainting).
You can continue taking Clonidine but anyway should talk to your doctor if you have any of the following less serious side effects:
- • unusual fatigue, dizziness, or tiredness;
• headache;
• constipation, nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea;
• insomnia; or
• a dry mouth (sucking on ice chips or sugarless hard candy may relieve this side effect).
Side effects other than those listed here may also occur. Talk to your doctor about any side effect that seems unusual or that is especially bothersome.
